Second, prepare the basic submittal information in advance and have it ready in a word processor file to access quickly each time you register. You need the basic information for EACH site page you register. Our detailed guide will help you. Get Step 2 details. |

Third, register your pages with the general search engines, such as AltaVista and WebCrawler, not just because it's easy to do, but because people are more likely to use general search engines than directories to find things. Get Step 3 details. |
|

Fourth, register your pages with Yahoo, which is both a directory and a search engine. Because it's one of the best places to find things, it's popular and a must to be listed in. It's easy to find things in Yahoo but a bit tedious to register. Get Step 4 details. |
|

Fifth, register everywhere else, especially with directories related to your business. Directories take the longest to do, because there are so many and they have differing submittal requirements. Remember that some accept long descriptions. Get Step 5 details.

Sixth, follow up to see if your registering activities were successful. See if your pages were indexed. Search using keywords others might use. If your pages don't consistently come up near the top, find out why, make changes and register again. Get Step 6 details.
